About this position
King's College London is advertising an internal-only Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Atherton lab at the Randall Centre for Cell & Molecular Biophysics, within the School of Basic & Biomedical Sciences and the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine.
The project focuses on actin-binding proteins and how they remodel the eukaryotic cytoskeleton, with relevance to neuronal development, synaptic plasticity, cell-cell interactions, viral infection, and cancer invasion. The role is strongly centered on structural biology, especially single-particle cryo-EM and in situ cryo-electron tomography, supported by cell biology, molecular biophysics, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
The lab has access to major cryo-EM infrastructure, including an on-site autoloading JEOL cryoARM200 + K3 detector and a Titan Krios with FIBSEM equipment at nearby London sites. The post is full-time, fixed term for one year, and is laboratory-based with most work on site.
Applicants should have a PhD awarded or near completion in a relevant area and strong experience in protein expression/purification, structural biology, and cell culture. Essential skills include cryo-EM, Linux command line use, and cryo-EM processing software.
