About this position
Texas A&M University is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Institute for a Disaster Resilient Texas (IDRT) in Galveston, Texas. The position sits at the intersection of civil engineering, coastal engineering, hydrodynamic and morphodynamic modeling, flood risk reduction, and disaster resilience.
The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary research on planned storm surge suppression systems along the U.S. Gulf Coast, with emphasis on beach and dune modeling or hydrodynamic field data collection and analysis. Research tasks may include coastal numerical modeling, nearshore dynamics, flood control infrastructure design and analysis, nature-based flood mitigation, flood forecasting and warning systems, and hazard analytics.
This is a full-time staff postdoctoral role. The post notes that the position is funded by grant and/or contract support and is therefore contingent on continued funding and satisfactory performance. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Civil, Ocean, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with relevant coastal systems expertise is required. Preferred experience includes coastal modeling tools, field data collection, sediment transport, Python/Matlab/R, and GIS (e.g., ESRI ArcPro). Strong communication and teamwork skills are also emphasized.
How to apply: submit your application through the Texas A&M Workday posting. A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended and can be uploaded in the CV/Resume section.
