What's required

Ph.D. in condensed matter physics, solid-state chemistry, materials science, or a related field is required. Preferred experience includes high-temperature solid-state synthesis and crystal growth, flux synthesis/solution growth, arc melting, vapor transport reactions, powder sintering, hot glass-working and vacuum-sealing glass ampoules, interpreting temperature-composition phase diagrams, strong understanding of magnetism and magnetic materials, measuring and analyzing magnetization, electrical resistivity, Hall effect, and specific heat, operating Quantum Design MPMS and/or PPMS instruments, and analyzing X-ray diffraction data including phase identification and preferably Rietveld refinement. Strong written and oral communication, collaboration, accurate lab records, independent work, multitasking, and meeting milestones are also expected.
