About this position

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Neuroscience at Texas A&M University Health Science Center

This full-time postdoctoral opening is in the Department of Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutics at Texas A&M University Health Science Center in Bryan, Texas, United States. The project focuses on the basal ganglia and corticostriatal circuit mechanisms underlying substance use disorders and neurodegenerative disease, using rodent models.

The lab uses a wide range of techniques, including oral and intravenous alcohol/drug self-administration in operant chambers, in vivo optogenetic and chemogenetic manipulation, slice electrophysiology, viral and rodent genetics, confocal imaging, fiber photometry, stereotaxic surgery, and behavioral assays such as conditioned place preference, locomotor activity, T-maze, and Barn's Maze.

Applicants should have an appropriate PhD in neuroscience or a related field. Preferred experience includes 1-3 years of post-PhD research, strong rodent behavioral expertise, whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology, fiber photometry, stereotaxic infusion/implantation, immunohistochemistry, image analysis, and a record of first-author publications. Knowledge of addiction, neuropsychiatric disorders, Alzheimer's disease, learning and memory, and behavioral conditioning is especially relevant.

The position is grant funded and offers a proposed minimum salary of $4,166.67 per month. Benefits include health insurance, retirement, paid leave, professional development, and tuition assistance. Future employment may depend on future funding.

To apply, use the Texas A&M Workday application portal and submit complete application data or a resume. The posting does not list a deadline.
