About this position
The University of Arizona is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Psychology for research on cooperation, prosocial behavior, cross-cultural psychology, social networks, and well-being. The position centers on two projects: one with the Mayangna of Northern Nicaragua examining interdependence, shared fate, cooperation, social integration, and physical and mental well-being; and another large cross-cultural survey on interdependence and cooperation across relationships.
The postdoc will help administer studies, analyze data, lead publications, and collaborate on ongoing projects. There is also an opportunity to conduct short field visits in the Bosawas biosphere reserve of Northern Nicaragua for less than 8 weeks per year. Fieldwork is preferred but not required.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field by the time of hire. Strong quantitative skills are important, especially SEM, multilevel models, longitudinal data, social networks, and data visualization. Preferred experience includes cooperation/prosocial behavior or evolutionary human sciences, plus fluency in Spanish and the ability to do fieldwork in Northern Nicaragua.
This is a full-time, full-benefits research position. Compensation follows NIH salary guidelines and depends on experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid leave, holidays, and tuition reduction for the employee and eligible family members.
To apply, submit a CV, cover letter, and a document listing 2-3 reference contacts with email and phone number through the University of Arizona application portal. The posting is open until filled.
