About this position
The Weihs Group at Johns Hopkins University is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate in reactive metal powders, powder processing, and combustion science.
The project focuses on ultrasonic atomization for powder fabrication and characterization, including particle size, morphology, microstructure, and combustion/oxidation behavior. The work is mainly experimental, with links to AI-based modeling of combustion behavior and collaboration across the Defense Threat Reduction Agency-funded MSEE University Research Alliance and nearby federal laboratories.
Applicants should have a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field. Strongly relevant experience includes metal powders, materials characterization, electron microscopy, XRD, ignition experiments, and combustion measurements.
To apply, email a cover letter, updated CV, and two example publications to Prof. Tim Weihs at [email protected] with the subject line Postdoc RA: Reactive Metal Powders.
This opportunity is based at the Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute, Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
