About this position

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, Morocco, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Behavioral Sciences, Innovation and Market Adoption of Vertical Farming Technologies for a 12-month appointment within the ARC_AIR – African Research Center on Air Quality and Climate.

This postdoctoral opportunity sits at the intersection of behavioral sciences, sociology, psychology, consumer behavior, innovation studies, entrepreneurship, and sustainable food systems. The project investigates why vertical farming technologies are accepted or rejected by consumers and stakeholders, and how market readiness, trust, perceived naturalness, sustainability, and cultural context shape adoption.

The successful fellow will lead interdisciplinary research on four main themes: social acceptance of vertical farming; behavioral models of consumer decision-making; innovation and market creation; and commercialization/go-to-market strategies. Research methods may include consumer surveys, behavioral experiments, choice modeling, experimental economics, digital behavior analysis, and mixed qualitative-quantitative approaches.

ARC_AIR is a multidisciplinary research unit focused on air quality, atmospheric chemistry, and climate, with a strong mission of supporting sustainable development in Africa through research, capacity building, and technology transfer. Within this environment, the selected researcher will contribute to evidence-based marketing, adoption acceleration, market segmentation, pricing and positioning strategies, and innovation ecosystem development related to sustainable agriculture and AgriTech.

The postdoctoral fellow is expected to publish in high-impact international journals, produce review and policy-oriented papers, contribute to competitive research proposals, and help expand international partnerships and collaboration networks. The role also includes support for technology adoption initiatives, market intelligence, industry engagement, and research valorization activities.

Eligibility is limited to applicants who hold a PhD awarded within the last five years in sociology, social psychology, behavioral psychology, consumer behavior, marketing, behavioral economics, entrepreneurship, or management sciences. Applicants must submit a single PDF file including a cover letter, detailed CV, research statement, list of publications, and contact information for two academic referees.

The application deadline is not specified. Applications are submitted via the online application link provided by the employer.
