About this position

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in in situ structural biology at the University of Leeds (Astbury Centre for Structural & Molecular Biology), United Kingdom.

The project is led by Prof. Elton Zeqiraj and focuses on advanced cryoEM, cryoET, correlative microscopy, sub-tomogram averaging, and in situ structural analysis in native cellular contexts. The research aims to establish new pipelines for in situ structural biology and cryoET from cell systems, with applications to ribosome quality control mechanisms and signalling protein target engagement.

This is a postdoctoral opening, initially for 3 years. The post is suited to researchers interested in protein structure, cell signalling, and imaging-based structural biology. The lab and centre offer extensive infrastructure, including cryo-electron microscopy, FIB milling, high-pressure freezing, computational resources, protein crystallography, protein production, biophysical interaction tools, and cell culture/imaging facilities.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have or be very close to completing a PhD in in situ structural biology or a related discipline; strong experience in cryoEM/cryoET or related methods is required; experience with cryoET data-processing pipelines and/or FIB milling is desirable/important; prior in situ structural biology experience is essential.

Application deadline: 31 August 2026. Apply via the University of Leeds vacancy page using the provided job link.
