About this position

Tampere University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and next-generation 6G wireless communications. The position is part of the FORMULA3 project, a collaborative initiative funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Research Council of Finland.

The successful candidate will join the Wireless Systems research group and contribute to research on FR3 programmable wireless environments, RIS-assisted communications, AI-native wireless systems, and integrated sensing and communications (ISAC). The role combines theory, simulation, measurement-based modelling, dataset generation, and validation of advanced wireless concepts.

Possible tasks include developing models and methods for programmable wireless environments, studying channel characterization in dynamic scenarios, investigating AI-based learning methods for wireless optimization, performing analytical and simulation-based evaluations, supporting testbed development and measurement campaigns, publishing in leading journals and conferences, and assisting with project management and mentoring doctoral researchers.

This is a research-focused postdoctoral opening in Electrical Engineering with strong links to Computer Science and applied wireless networking. Applicants should have relevant expertise or interest in wireless communications, RIS, AI-driven optimization, sensing-enabled networks, and experimental/measurement-based research.

The application deadline is 2026-08-03. Applications and all accompanying documentation must be submitted in English. Apply via the Tampere University recruitment portal using the provided link.
