About this position
The University of Queensland is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Fellow / Research Officer in Microfluidics based at the St Lucia Campus, Queensland, Australia. This is a research-focused, full-time fixed-term appointment for up to 12 months within the Institute for Molecular Bioscience.
The project focuses on microfluidics for peptide and protein drug discovery, with work involving the design and fabrication of microfluidic devices and the application of polymer chemistry, hydrogels, and surface immobilisation chemistry. The role also connects with complementary research areas including protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and computational biology.
Key responsibilities include developing a coherent research program, producing research outputs, contributing to joint projects and competitive funding applications, supporting research translation and commercialisation, and contributing to the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students.
Applicants should have completed or be near completion of a PhD in bioengineering or a closely related discipline. Strong experience in microfluidic device design and fabrication is required, along with demonstrated expertise in polymer chemistry, hydrogels, or surface immobilisation chemistry. Additional experience in cell and animal biology, computational biology, or molecular biology and protein expression is highly regarded. The post also asks for effective communication skills, an emerging research profile, and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplinary boundaries.
Salary is listed at AUD 85,372.89–113,659.72 plus 17% superannuation. The position is open to applicants with unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the appointment; employer-sponsored work rights are not available.
