About this position

Radboud University Medical Center (Radboudumc) in Nijmegen, the Netherlands is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for an interdisciplinary project on AI & structural modeling of T-cell recognition for cancer immunotherapy.

The project sits at the intersection of Biology, Computer Science, Medical Science, and Biomedical Engineering. It focuses on the TCR specificity problem—understanding how T-cell receptors recognize peptide antigens presented by MHC molecules—and aims to develop cutting-edge AI methods for 3D TCR–pMHC modeling, neoantigen identification, TCR specificity prediction, and TCR design.

The host group is the Structural Bioinformatics Group at Radboudumc. The work is part of an internationally connected consortium involving academic groups in AI, 3D modeling, and T-cell immunology, as well as TCR discovery and TCR-biologics companies, a cancer vaccine research group running clinical trials, and the national supercomputing center SurfSara.

This is a 1-year postdoc position with the possibility of extension. The salary range is €3724–€5867 per month, and the post includes holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, travel reimbursement, public transport reimbursement, and home-working compensation. The project is funded by an NWO Open Competition M grant.

Applicants can fit one of two profiles: AI (PhD in machine learning, computer science, computational science, or related field; strong deep learning experience; PyTorch and geometric/graph neural networks, equivariant models, or generative models are especially relevant) or Structural bioinformatics / computational biophysics (PhD in structural bioinformatics, computational biophysics, computational chemistry, or related field; protein structure modeling, molecular interactions/energetics, AlphaFold, Rosetta, or MD simulations; strong Python skills). For both profiles, a strong publication record, scientific independence, teamwork, communication skills, and English fluency are important.

Starting date: November 1, 2026. The position requires a Certificate of Conduct (VOG).

What's required

Applicants should have a PhD in machine learning, computer science, computational science, structural bioinformatics, computational biophysics, computational chemistry, or a related field. For the AI profile, strong deep learning experience is expected, ideally with PyTorch and geometric/graph neural networks, equivariant models, or generative models. For the structural bioinformatics profile, experience with protein structure modeling, molecular interactions/energetics, and tools such as AlphaFold, Rosetta, or molecular dynamics simulations is expected. Strong Python programming skills are required, and familiarity with machine learning is a plus. A strong publication record, scientific independence, good collaboration and communication skills, and fluency in English are valued.
