About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) in Astronomy & Astrophysics at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Göttingen, Germany.
This position is part of the newly established ERC StG project PLANETARE and focuses on young star-planet systems, stellar magnetism, exoplanetary science, flaring activity, and planet-star interactions. The successful candidate will help build the observational foundation for the project by compiling a high-quality flaring activity catalog from space-borne photometry, searching for transiting planet candidates, constraining the geometry of interacting systems, and measuring stellar activity characteristics.
The role is embedded in a small team led by Dr. Ekaterina Ilin, with close collaboration with another postdoc and a PhD student. The group encourages independent research, paper writing, proposal development, and conference participation in both the stellar and exoplanet communities.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in physics or astrophysics required by the start date; prior experience in observational astronomy is preferred, ideally with space-borne optical photometry; strong teamwork skills and good English are expected.
Funding and duration: 4-year postdoctoral appointment with remuneration according to EG 13 TVöD-Bund.
Application deadline: 2026-10-30. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, references, and certificates via the digital application portal.
Contact: Dr. Ekaterina Ilin ([email protected]).
