About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in Automatic Control with Focus on Ultrasound and Hyperspectral-Based Sensing at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden.
This postdoctoral opening is in the subject area of Automatic Control, with research centered on control and instrumentation for ultrasound sensing, hyperspectral imaging (HSI), artificial intelligence, and Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML). The project, InAFQual, is funded by Interreg Aurora and aims to develop affordable, innovative solutions for food quality monitoring using spectral-based sensing.
The successful candidate will carry out both experimental and theoretical research, publish in scientific journals, present at national and international conferences, and work closely with the academic supervisor and project collaborators. There may also be opportunities for teaching, lab demonstrations, mentoring undergraduate students, and other academic development activities.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; hands-on experience with experimental ultrasound sensing and hyperspectral imaging; strong Python skills (Spectral Python, NumPy, SciPy, OpenCV); and familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or similar tools. Experience in food or agriculture quality monitoring is highly desirable, and hardware development with sensors and microcontrollers is an advantage. Strong communication skills and high proficiency in English are required.
Location: Luleå Campus, Luleå, Sweden.
Duration: 2 years, starting preferably from February 2027 or soon after.
Application deadline: 30 September 2026.
