About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioorganic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Hradec Králové, Czech Republic.

This 3-year position begins in January 2027 and is based in Hradec Králové on-site. The post is offered as part-time or full-time, with a gross monthly salary of 46,000 CZK plus bonuses. The research topic is highly interdisciplinary, combining molecular design, organic synthesis, compound characterization, and in vitro biochemical evaluation of compounds targeting mitochondrial enzymes relevant to neurodegeneration.

The successful candidate will work on the design, preparation, characterization and experimental evaluation of bioorganic or medicinal chemistry compounds, with particular attention to synthetic and analytical methods and biochemical assays. The role also offers the opportunity to develop an independent research programme within the broader scope of the group.

Responsibilities include active participation in experiments, contributing to the development and modernization of synthetic and evaluation tools, preparing scientific manuscripts, and collaborating with internal and external researchers.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD (or equivalent) in Bioorganic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or a related discipline; publications in impact-factor journals indexed in Web of Science; prior scientific internship abroad; practical experience in molecular design, synthetic chemistry, compound characterization and in vitro evaluation; and English at C1 level.

Application deadline: 2 October 2026. Applications should be sent by email to [email protected]. Informal scientific enquiries may be directed to [email protected]. Additional job details are available via the university and Euraxess links.
