About this position

Warsaw University of Technology is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Faculty of Mechatronics / Quantitative Computational Imaging (QCI) Lab in Warsaw, Poland.

The project, “Lensless label-free nanoscopy” (NaNoLens), is an ERC Starting Grant funded by the European Commission under Horizon Europe. The research sits at the intersection of computational microscopy, optics, digital holography, image processing, bioimaging, and biomedical imaging, with a strong focus on developing new lensless holographic microscopy and holotomographic nanoscopy methods for live-cell and extracellular vesicle studies.

The postdoc will work with the QCI team and collaborate with international experts, including Vicente Micó (University of Valencia) and Balpreet Ahluwalia (The Arctic University of Norway). The role includes research on coherent and incoherent resolution enhancement, reconstruction algorithms, optical setup development, and experimental/ numerical work aimed at high-throughput label-free imaging.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in optics, physics, biology, computer science, engineering, or a related field (or a PhD defense already scheduled for September 2026); experience in imaging method development, optical setups, biomedical sample studies, lead-author publications, Matlab/Python, LabVIEW, and image/signal analysis; fluent English and strong teamwork/motivation.

Funding: up to 48,000 euro gross per year on a work contract, with a 12/24/32-month contract option, plus support for conferences, scientific visits, and lab/office purchases.
