About this position

Postdoctoral researcher position in economics at the University of Bordeaux / Bordeaux School of Economics (BxSE) for a project on coastal climate risks, insurance, land policy, and adaptation incentives.

The post is part of the IRICOT / PEPR project and sits within a 14-partner interdisciplinary team spanning economics, geography, geology, fluid mechanics, and coastal sciences. The research focuses on how public and private insurance schemes, land arrangements, and incentive design can influence residential location choices in risk-prone coastal areas.

Research themes include decision under uncertainty, incentive theory, moral hazard, anti-selection, experimental economics, discrete choice experiments (DCE), housing market responses, and equity issues in adaptation policy. The project may involve modeling individual housing decisions, designing hybrid public/private insurance mechanisms, and testing incentive schemes with coastal residents.

Eligibility: a PhD in Economics is required. Strong knowledge of theoretical modelling, decision theory under uncertainty, empirical methods, preference elicitation, choice experiments, and discrete choice simulations is expected. The post also values autonomy, interest in interdisciplinary work, and openness to learning new methods.

Funding: 15-month fixed-term contract, possibly renewable, with a gross monthly salary of €2,750–€3,000.

Location: Pessac (Bordeaux), France.

Application: rolling review. Candidates should send a CV, cover letter/statement of interest, publications, and two reference contacts through the University of Bordeaux careers portal.
