About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Genomics and Pollinator Health at Aarhus University (Department of Ecoscience, Center for Nature-Based Solutions, Faculty of Technical Sciences).
This postdoctoral project sits at the intersection of environmental genomics, microbiome ecology, pollinator biology, biodiversity monitoring, and environmental science. The research investigates how freshwater habitats influence pollinator microbiomes, physiology, and ecological interactions, with the broader goal of uncovering links between aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
The selected researcher will lead field-based and molecular work across multiple seasons, including sample collection, DNA sequencing, and analysis of microbial communities associated with freshwater habitats and pollinators. The role also involves working with eDNA, metabarcoding, metagenomics, bioinformatics, and high-throughput sequencing datasets, plus integration of molecular, ecological, and environmental data.
Eligibility: applicants must hold a PhD in ecology, molecular ecology, genomics, microbiology, bioinformatics, environmental science, or a related field. Strong experience in one or more of the following is desirable: insect ecology, microbial ecology, eDNA, environmental genomics, metagenomics, metabarcoding, R/Python, reproducible workflows, scientific writing, and microbiome research. A solid publication record and ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams are expected.
Funding: this is a Villum Foundation funded full-time, fixed-term 2-year postdoc. Salary and employment terms follow Danish collective agreements; no stipend amount is listed.
Location: Roskilde, Denmark (Aarhus University, Frederiksborgvej 399, DK-4000 Roskilde). Start date is expected from 1 February 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Deadline: 30 October 2026 at 23:59 CET. Apply via Aarhus University’s recruitment system and include the required documents in English.
