About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Neurodegeneration at the University of Luxembourg, within the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB), based at Belval Campus. This is a full-time, fixed-term postdoctoral position focused on neuroscience, neurobiology, cell biology, molecular biology, stem-cell biology, and translational medical science.

The project centers on patient-derived and isogenic-control iPSC lines, differentiation into midbrain dopaminergic and cholinergic neuronal models, organoid experiments, intracellular calcium signalling, mitochondrial calcium handling, CHCHD-family expression, and broader neurodegeneration mechanisms. The role also includes high-content imaging, live-cell calcium imaging, immunocytochemistry, Western blotting, multiomics sample coordination, single-cell RNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics, electron microscopy, Seahorse assays, and collaborative data analysis.

Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and have strong mammalian cell culture experience; human iPSC culture and neuronal differentiation are highly desirable. Experience with siRNA/shRNA, plasmid transfection, viral transduction, CRISPR-based methods, or pharmacological perturbation is expected, along with quantitative fluorescence microscopy and image analysis. Knowledge of mitochondrial biology, calcium signalling, or neurodegenerative disease mechanisms is important. The institute works in English, with a professional C1 level expected.

The position offers a 36-month fixed-term contract and a yearly gross salary of EUR 87,306. Applications are reviewed upon receipt, so early submission is encouraged. To apply, submit a CV, cover letter, PhD diploma or expected defense information, transcript of university courses, publication list, and contact details for at least two academic referees through the online HR system. Email applications will not be considered.
