About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Communications at the University of Luxembourg, within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) and the Signal Processing and Communications (SigCom) research group.

The role sits in a strong international research environment focused on future 6G communication networks, with particular emphasis on experimental quantum communications and networking. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, implementation, and characterization of advanced quantum communication systems, especially free-space optical (FSO) links, quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, and their integration into optical and networked testbeds.

Research themes relevant to the group include quantum communications and quantum information networks, wireless/satellite communications, integrated satellite-space-terrestrial networks, security and efficient wireless communication solutions, and advanced signal processing and optimization methods. The work is experimentally driven and supported by research facilities including COMMLab, the 6GSPACE Lab, the HybridNetLab, and the QCILab.

The position is hosted by the University of Luxembourg, an international, multilingual university with a strong research and innovation profile. The postdoctoral researcher will also help shape the research agenda, contribute to project deliverables, publish in leading venues, and support PhD candidates.

Eligibility highlights: a completed PhD in a relevant area; strong publication record in experimental quantum communications, photonics, or optical systems; hands-on experience with experimental optics and free-space and/or fiber systems; deep knowledge of QKD protocols including BB84 and entanglement-based QKD; programming and instrument-control skills in Python, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW; leadership and mentoring experience; and excellent English (C1).

Funding: fixed-term contract for 24 months with a yearly gross salary of EUR 87,306 (full time).
