About this position

University of Jyväskylä’s Department of Physics, Accelerator Laboratory is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Radiation Effects in Power Electronics in Jyväskylä, Finland. The project is part of RADNEXT 2030 and is co-funded by the European Commission and the University of Jyväskylä.

The research focuses on radiation effects in power electronics, especially wide-bandgap (WBG) devices such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN). The successful candidate will review published studies on radiation effects, failure mechanisms, and test practices; perform radiation testing of WBG components; develop test methodologies; and draft application-specific guidelines for radiation testing procedures. Depending on skills and interests, the role may also include experimental setup development and data acquisition/analysis software.

Applicants should have a PhD in a suitable field such as experimental physics or electronics. Experience with accelerator-based physics, electronic circuit design, electrical measurements, power electronics, WBG materials, and simulation tools such as Geant4, TCAD, and molecular dynamics is an advantage. Excellent written and spoken English is required, and the PhD must be completed before the start date.

The appointment starts on 4 January 2026 or as soon as possible after that and lasts for 2 years. Salary is approximately EUR 3700–4300 per month gross, depending on qualifications and experience, with a holiday bonus and relocation support for candidates moving from abroad.

To apply, update your ORCID profile and ensure publications are publicly visible. Submit an English PDF application containing a CV, a short motivation/cover letter, a numbered publication list, and the highest degree certificate through the recruitment system by 2026-11-20.
