About this position

CNRS is advertising a postdoctoral researcher position in RNA and translation at the Institute of Integrative Cell Biology (I2BC) in Gif-sur-Yvette, France, within the team Génomique, Structure et Traduction. The project is part of the ERC Synergy consortium 3Stops2go and focuses on engineering alternative decoding for therapeutic purposes.

The postdoc will work on two main research directions: (1) designing, implementing, and analyzing a large-scale screen in human cells to identify new suppressor tRNAs that can efficiently read premature termination codons while remaining selective against native stop codons; and (2) elucidating the mechanism of action of TLN468 and its derivatives, compounds that promote readthrough and show unusual selectivity in the amino acid incorporated at stop codons.

Research activities include molecular biology, in vitro transcription/translation, protein purification, luciferase assays, human cell culture, lentiviral manipulation, development of lentiviral screening approaches for tRNA optimization, and analysis of high-throughput data such as NGS and ribosome profiling. The successful candidate will also present results in team meetings and to collaborators.

Applicants should hold a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline, and have strong expertise in RNA and translation. Experience with cloning, human cell culture, cytometry, NGS analysis, lentiviral vectors, functional screens, or ribosome profiling is highly valued. Good scientific English, autonomy, rigor, initiative, and teamwork are required.

The contract is for 12 months with a salary of €3131 to €4341 gross per month depending on experience. The application deadline is 23 October 2026.
