About this position

University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, Canada is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Levine lab at the Krembil Research Institute / Krembil Brain Institute.

The project focuses on spinal cord neuroscience, especially how spinal cell types shape population activity and contribute to motor control and sensorimotor function. The lab has built atlases of spinal cord cell types and is now studying how these networks cooperate to orchestrate movement.

The role combines high density electrophysiology, computational neuroscience, optogenetics, spinal cell-type-specific manipulation, quantitative behavioral tracking, and analysis of neural activity and behavior in awake behaving mice. There is also room for co-designing and leading projects, with possible co-mentorship with an outside collaborator.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD earned within the last 5 years from a recognized institution, a strong publication record (including preprints), and experience in one or more of the following: high density electrophysiology, computational neuroscience, neural circuit tracing and analysis, mouse surgery, and quantitative assessment of sensorimotor behavior.

Funding: this is a paid postdoctoral contract with a salary of CAD 65,882–82,352 per year. The appointment is temporary full-time for 1 year with a possibility of extension.

Deadline: September 2, 2026.

How to apply: submit the application through the SmartRecruiters posting link. UHN notes that selected candidates will be contacted by email, so applicants should monitor their inbox regularly.
