About this position

The University of Tokyo is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in thermal fluid dynamics and combustion within the Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The lab is working on projects involving LIF/TDLAS measurements in ammonia and hydrogen combustion, modeling flame effects on structural materials and heated objects in ammonia industrial furnaces, numerical analysis of laminar and turbulent flames with gas-phase and surface reactions, and optimization of heat flow in thermal equipment such as heat exchangers.

The position is suited to candidates interested in thermal engineering, fluid engineering, combustion engineering, heat transfer, and numerical analysis. A background in thermal fluid engineering, combustion engineering, or heat transfer engineering is desirable, but applicants from other backgrounds who are eager to take on new challenges are also welcome.

This is a fixed-term, full-time postdoctoral-equivalent appointment. Salary is listed at 4 million to 7 million yen annually, with compensation based on the University of Tokyo regulations for specially appointed researchers. The work location is Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
