About this position

RIKEN’s Quantum Computing Research Center is recruiting 1 fixed-term Researcher or Special Researcher in the Quantum Computation Science Research Team in Wako, Saitama, Japan.

The position focuses on quantum computational science, especially quantum algorithms for quantum many-body systems, quantum-classical hybrid methods, experimental research using quantum computers, and classical simulation of quantum computation. The team is also interested in quantum information physics analyses of quantum circuits and future hybrid supercomputing/quantum-computing systems.

Research fields/keywords include mathematical physics, condensed matter physics, semiconductors, atomic physics, magnetism, superconductivity, strongly correlated systems, particle and nuclear physics, astrophysics theory, applied mathematics, and statistical mathematics.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant theoretical area (or expect to obtain one by the start date). Experience in quantum computing algorithm R&D is preferred. The role is a one-year fixed-term contract, renewable based on performance, with a maximum total period of up to 7 years for Researchers or 5 years for Special Researchers.

Funding: annual income starts at about 4 million yen, with salary determined by experience and achievements. Allowances include commuting and housing, and social insurance is provided.
