About this position
Postdoctoral Scholar opportunity at the University of Oregon in the Lindberg Lab at the Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact.
This opening is for a postdoc working on biofabrication, biomaterials, hydrogels, volumetric bioprinting, cell culture, organoids, and regenerative medicine, with a strong focus on osteoarthritis therapeutics. The project centers on oxygen-controlling hydrogels as injectable treatments, including synthesis of bioinks/bioresins, volumetric additive manufacturing (VAM), oxygen measurements, biomaterial characterization, stem cell culture, isolation of human cells and fluids, multiplexed proteomics, and biological characterization of cell-laden hydrogels.
The role also includes leading in vivo studies in a rat osteoarthritis model, intra-articular administration of hydrogel therapeutics, monitoring treatment response, sample collection, inflammatory response assessment, and tissue characterization using histology, immunohistochemistry, RNAseq, and related methods.
Applicants should have a PhD in biofabrication, biomedical engineering, chemistry/materials science, cell biology, or a related field, plus at least 2 years of experience with bioinks/bioresins or hydrogels and 2 years of experience with cell culture, organoids, or microphysiological systems. Strong project management, communication, scientific rigor, and collaboration skills are emphasized.
Preferred experience includes biomaterial synthesis and crosslinking, advanced biofabrication/bioprinting, primary human cell culture in 3D hydrogels, proteomics, histology, molecular assays, IRB/IACUC protocols, rodent disease models, oxygen sensing, and mentoring students.
The position is located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. Applications are reviewed beginning October 23, 2026, and the position remains open until filled. To apply, submit a CV and cover letter through the University of Oregon careers page.
