About this position

The Department of Dermatology at the University of California, Davis is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Immunology and Microbiology.

This position is based in the lab of Dr. Sasha Shafikhani and focuses on host tissue–bacterial pathogen interactions, wound infection, and wound healing. The project studies Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus using small and large animal models, with data streams including wound imaging, transcriptomics, metabolomics, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry.

The fellow will be expected to develop independent research projects, contribute to an NIH-funded program, collaborate with a multi-institution interdisciplinary team, and publish and present findings at scientific conferences.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD (or equivalent) in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, structural biology, or a related field; prior microbiology and animal research experience; and strong organizational and communication skills. Experience with transcriptomics, animal wound models, inflammation, microbiome, and molecular biology is a plus.

What's required
