About this position

The Neginskaya Laboratory in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology at The Ohio State University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scholar to study the molecular mechanisms of mitochondrial permeability transition and mitochondrial dysfunction in disease.

This position is centered on physiology, cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, and structural biology, with projects examining mitochondrial membrane protein complexes, stress-induced permeability changes, and signaling pathways involved in ischemia-reperfusion injury in the heart and brain.

The lab uses an interdisciplinary toolkit including mitochondrial patch-clamp electrophysiology, advanced live-cell and label-free imaging, cryo-electron tomography, cross-linking mass spectrometry, and biochemical/molecular approaches. The successful candidate will design and execute experiments, analyze data, contribute to manuscripts and grant applications, and present work at scientific conferences.

Applicants must hold a PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, physiology, or a related field. A strong publication record, independence, teamwork, and excellent communication skills are required. Experience in mitochondrial biology, membrane protein biochemistry, electrophysiology, microscopy, cryo-EM/cryo-ET, structural biology, quantitative image analysis, mouse models, or bioenergetics is preferred.
