I am looking for a highly motivated PGR/PhD candidate - “UK home or EU (with settled status) student” – with research experience or strong interests in “superconducting fusion magnets” and “Artificial Intelligence and machine learning techniques” to work under my supervision for a fully-funded PhD position at University of Glasgow , UK. The ideal candidate will work on an UKAEA funded project involving development and validation of protection models for superconducting fusion magnets to assess the impact of different operational conditions on magnet using machine learning and RF technology. The supervisory team is consisted of Sam Tippetts and Dr Stuart Wimbush (from UK Atomic Energy Authority), and Dr Mohammad Yazdani-Asrami , Dr Wenjuan Song , Prof David Flynn (from University of Glasgow).
Proficiency in coding, programming, MATLAB/Simulink/m-file/DPtoolbox, Python programming, different data mining, AI, and ML techniques is absolutely desirable. Prior knowledge of superconductivity, and superconducting magnet modelling or experimental experience would be desirable. Prior experience in using smart algorithms for protection is also desirable.
