Technische Universität München (TUM) is advertising a Research Assistant (PhD Candidate) / Postdoctoral Researcher position at the Center for Digital Transformation on the TUM Campus Heilbronn in Germany. The role sits within TUM School of Management and is focused on supply chain finance and supply chain resilience, with a strong analytical and interdisciplinary orientation.

The successful candidate will join the research group of Prof. Dr. David Wuttke and contribute to foundational research using game theory and rigorous analytical modeling. The project aims to answer important questions in supply chain finance, with links to resilience and sustainability, and to publish the work in leading international journals. The team notes a strong publication record in top outlets including Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and the Journal of Operations Management.

This is a paid position under TV-L E13 at 100% with salary level determined by qualifications and relevant professional experience. For applicants without a doctoral degree, the appointment is fixed for 3 years with the possibility of extension and includes the opportunity to pursue a doctorate under close supervision. For applicants with a doctoral degree, the postdoctoral appointment is fixed for 2 years with the possibility of extension and offers the chance to further develop a research agenda and academic profile. The role also includes teaching responsibilities and support for competitive grant applications.

Eligibility highlights include a Master’s degree in economics, mathematics, psychology, biology, business/management, physics, or a related field; postdoctoral applicants must hold a PhD in one of these areas. Strong quantitative skills are essential, especially probability theory and calculus, while game theory is highly valued and econometrics is an advantage. English proficiency is required.
