About this position
University of Utah is recruiting a Research Scientist II PhD in the Bapat Lab within the Department of Pathology in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.
This is a research-intensive position focused on immunology, tissue immunology, T cell biology, immunometabolism, cancer immunology, and inflammatory disease. The lab uses mouse models, cellular and molecular immunology, genetic perturbation approaches, and high-dimensional genomic technologies to study how immune cells regulate tissue physiology, metabolic regulation, inflammation, and cancer.
The successful candidate will independently design and execute mechanistic experiments, perform advanced cellular and molecular assays, analyze complex datasets, contribute to manuscripts and research proposals, and collaborate with lab members. The role includes work with genetically modified mice, primary immune cell isolation, T cell culture, flow cytometry, gene expression analysis, CRISPR-based strategies, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, and chromatin accessibility profiling.
Eligibility highlights include a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline and substantial directly related research experience. Preferred backgrounds include experimental immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, biomedical sciences, and experience with mouse disease models, immune cell biology, and genomic analysis.
This is a full-time, fully benefited staff position with a salary range listed in the posting. The anticipated start date is January 2027, and the close date is 2027-01-21.
To apply, submit a current CV, relevant publications, and a brief cover letter through the University of Utah application portal. Applicants are encouraged to emphasize experience with mouse models, immune cell biology, molecular/genetic approaches, and genomic analysis.
