The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is seeking a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Veterinary Bacteriology to join the Department of Animal Biosciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, in Uppsala, Sweden. This permanent, full-time position focuses on research and teaching in veterinary bacteriology, including the study of pathogenic bacteria in sport, companion, and food animals, as well as food microbiology, diagnostics, and preventive measures such as vaccine development. The department covers a wide range of research areas from molecular mechanisms and microbiology to animal behavior and health, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and the One Health approach.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead internationally recognized research, teach at all academic levels (including veterinary and veterinary nurse programs), supervise doctoral and bachelor’s students, and contribute to the strategic development of the department and faculty. Additional responsibilities include applying for external research funding, collaborating with national and international partners, and participating in clinical work and teaching.
