About this position

The SIGCOM Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025 at the University of Luxembourg offers an exciting opportunity for early-career researchers to join the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), a leading international research and innovation centre in secure, reliable, and trustworthy ICT systems and services. The SIGCOM group is seeking outstanding PhD students nearing completion or postdoctoral researchers to apply for the prestigious MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship, working under the supervision of Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas and/or Prof. Eva Lagunas. Research topics include advanced areas such as Beyond 5G Wireless Communication Systems, Non-Terrestrial Communication Systems, Intelligent Open Radio Access Networks, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, Telecom Network Slicing, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces, Joint Communication and Sensing, Software Defined Networks, Network Virtualisation, Network Infrastructure Sharing, Routing Strategies, Network Performance Monitoring, ML/AI-Based Network Performance Prediction, Quantum Communications, and Optical Communications. The fellowship provides international, inter-sectoral, and interdisciplinary experience, strong training in research and transferable skills, and enhanced employability both inside and outside academia. The University of Luxembourg is a modern, multilingual institution with a diverse staff from over 90 countries, offering high-quality equipment and close ties to industry and European institutions. Applicants must hold a PhD in Telecommunications or Computer Science, demonstrate proven research experience, and possess expertise in optimization, signal processing, communications, and programming (MATLAB/Python). MSCA eligibility requires no more than 8 years of research experience post-PhD, adherence to mobility rules, and only one proposal per individual. The position is a fixed-term contract for 36 months, full-time, located at the Kirchberg Campus. The annual gross salary is EUR 83,099. Applicants must possess a PhD degree or equivalent in Telecommunications and Computer Science. Proven experience in high-ranking journals or international conference proceedings and involvement in research activities in relevant areas is required. Expertise in convex/non-convex optimization, signal processing, general communications, and programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python is expected. Good writing and oral presentation skills are necessary. For MSCA eligibility, candidates must have a maximum of 8 years research experience from the award of their first PhD (with possible deductions for career breaks), must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Luxembourg for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before recruitment, and only one proposal per individual can be submitted. Secondments can take up to one-third of the fellowship duration.
