About this position

Aarhus University is inviting applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in English and Conference Interpreting at the Department of English, School of Communication and Culture, Faculty of Arts.

This is a full-time, fixed-term assistant professorship with a view to permanent appointment as an associate professor after successful tenure review. The role is centered on English-language communication, conference interpreting, and related areas such as translation and interpreting studies, spoken interaction, professional and institutional communication, international business communication, mediation, oral discourse, and language use in international and intercultural contexts. Research interests in AI and large language models are also explicitly welcomed.

The successful candidate will teach on the Master in Conference Interpreting programme and on Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in International Business Communication in English and English, with possible contribution to Intercultural Studies. Teaching includes consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, especially English–Danish, as well as professional presentation, argumentation, academic/creative writing, and intercultural communication. Teaching is primarily in English, and some teaching in Danish is expected for the interpreting programme.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent qualifications in a relevant field, have university-level teaching and research experience, native-speaker competence in English, and strong oral communication skills. A teaching portfolio is required, and applicants should upload up to two publications. Knowledge of Danish, an MA in conference interpreting, EU institutional knowledge, and a strong research profile are advantageous.
