Join the VISIONBRAIN MSCA Doctoral Network at King’s College London as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Candidate and contribute to cutting-edge research on computational models of the neonatal brain. This EU-funded project aims to develop advanced in vitro and in silico biomedical tools for understanding complex brain disorders, training 15 early-stage researchers across Europe. The successful candidate will focus on integrating mathematical and biophysical models with state-of-the-art diffusion and functional MRI data to study brain connectivity in newborns, including both typically and atypically developing populations.
The project leverages high-quality MRI data from a large cohort of infants (N~1000), including those with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and ADHD. By applying network theory and computational neuroscience, the research seeks to uncover new insights into the developing brain, moving beyond traditional animal models. The position offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with academic and industry partners, participate in international training events, and undertake secondments with consortium institutions.
This is a full-time, fixed-term (36 months) PhD position with a comprehensive MSCA employment contract. The package includes a living allowance (£39,523.16/year), mobility allowance (£4,869.59/year), and, if applicable, a family allowance (£3,395.00/year), with all tuition fees covered. The role is ideal for enthusiastic, curious, and self-motivated individuals with a background in neuroscience, computational/mathematical methods, or related fields, who aspire to become leaders in computational neuroscience.
Eligibility criteria include not holding a PhD/doctoral degree and not having resided or carried out main activity in the UK for more than 12 months in the 36 months before recruitment.
