The Computational Fluid & Structural Mechanics Group (CFSMgroup), led by Artem Korobenko , is recruiting multiple students to work on multi-fidelity modeling and simulation of hypersonic vehicles . The research is centered on advanced computational fluid dynamics and high-speed aerothermodynamics, with topics including thermo-chemical nonequilibrium , turbulence and transition in hypersonic flows , thermal stress and ablation , high-speed fluid-structure interaction , and reduced-order modeling and machine learning . The project includes collaboration with industry partners, international research institutes, and activities connected to the NATO Working Group on Hypersonic Turbulence and the AIAA Hypersonic Transition Workshop . This makes the opportunity especially relevant for students interested in aerospace simulation, high-speed flow physics, and data-driven modeling for complex engineering systems. Ideal applicants have a strong background in numerical methods and fluid mechanics/aerodynamics , experience with CFD using FEM and/or FVM , and practical programming skills in Fortran, C/C++, Python , or similar languages.
