Dr. Chelly Maes at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is recruiting 3 fully funded PhD researchers for GENSCOPE , an ERC-funded project on digital media, gender beliefs, body image, sexuality development, adolescent development, mental health, and well-being . The project examines how adolescents navigate conflicting gender narratives across social media, television, and video games , and how these experiences shape beliefs, identity, and well-being. The three PhD projects will focus on: (1) gender beliefs, attitudes & related behaviours , (2) body image development , and (3) sexuality development . Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in Communication Science, Psychology, Sociology, Behavioural Sciences, or a related discipline . The post also looks for candidates with prior research experience, interest in academic research, a foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative methods , strong teamwork skills, international/interdisciplinary motivation, and excellent English. The positions are based in Brussels, Belgium . GENSCOPE will involve researchers from Belgium, Italy, and Czechia , and selected PhD researchers will relocate to Belgium and join ULB’s doctoral programme.
