Funded M.Sc. and PhD opportunities are available in the Department of Biosystems Engineering at the University of Manitoba in Canada, within the Grain Storage and Post-Harvest Technology Lab under the supervision of Prof. Fuji Jian . The positions are for international students starting in Fall 2026 or Winter 2027 . Financial support is available through graduate assistantships and research stipends . Research areas include multiphase heat and mass transfer modeling using CFD , DEM modeling of grain separation and airflow resistance, insect pest dynamics and spread, data-driven modeling of grain ecosystems, intelligent sensor development for insect detection, and quality control of stored products such as cereals and potatoes. M.Sc. applicants should have a bachelor's degree in Biosystems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field. PhD applicants should hold a master's degree in a related engineering discipline and preferably have a strong research record with publications. Preferred skills include fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and mass transfer, programming, mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, and strong English scientific writing skills.
