About this position
Three fully funded PhD scholarships are available in Italy through the National PhD Program in Artificial Intelligence coordinated by the University of Pisa and linked to the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the Italian National Research Council (IIT-CNR).
The opportunity is aimed at candidates interested in advanced artificial intelligence research, especially in green, continual, and decentralized AI, causal AI, and AI for next-generation mobile health solutions. The research themes include energy-efficient and distributed AI systems, continual learning, causal machine learning, and intelligent methods that use longitudinal health, behavioral, physiological, and environmental data.
This is a three-year full-time PhD program with a scholarship of about €1,200 net per month and approximately €11,000 in research funding over the three years. The call also notes opportunities for research collaboration in Italy and abroad, and remote interviews for international applicants.
Eligible applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent by the required date, have strong interest in AI research, relevant programming and analytical skills, good English communication skills, and a research proposal aligned with one or more of the scholarship topics. Backgrounds in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, or related areas are encouraged.
