About this position

PhD Opportunity – Electromagnetics and Microwave Engineering at the University of Seville, Spain, through the Spanish FPU 2026 Predoctoral Fellowship Programme.

The Microwaves Group (GMUS / US) is seeking highly motivated candidates for doctoral research in electromagnetics and microwave engineering. Research themes include antennas and wave propagation (planar antennas, antenna arrays, reflectarrays, radomes, mmWave/THz propagation modelling), passive microwave devices and circuits (filters, couplers, power dividers, transmission lines, periodic structures, microstrip, SIW, waveguide, LTCC), theoretical and computational electromagnetics, space-time modulated materials and structures (dynamic metamaterials, nonreciprocal media, wave control, reconfigurable devices), and photonic and optical-frequency devices in collaboration with IMB-CNM (Barcelona).

Eligibility: graduates in Physics, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines with an outstanding academic record (preferably above 9/10 or equivalent). International applicants are welcome; candidates with foreign degrees should prepare Spanish grade-equivalence documentation and check any degree legalisation requirements.

Funding: this is a predoctoral fellowship opportunity under the FPU 2026 scheme and is contingent on obtaining the competitive fellowship.
