About this position

Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) is advertising two artistic PhD research fellow positions in the Academy of Dance, focused on dance and choreography. The doctoral programme is part of KHiO’s artistic research environment and the Norwegian Artistic Research School, with research expected to be practice-based, innovative, and internationally relevant.

The call welcomes projects on performative practices with emphasis on artistic methods and strategies as a performer in dance, including collaborative contexts, as well as artistic research within dance/choreography with emphasis on the applicant’s existing body of work. Applicants should reflect on studio/stage space needs in the application.

This is a three-year full-time PhD research fellowship with a starting salary of NOK 550,800 per year before tax and automatic salary progression. The workplace is at Oslo National Academy of the Arts in Oslo, Norway. The position starts on 01.10.2027 and is subject to admission to the PhD programme in artistic research.

Eligibility highlights include a relevant master’s degree in performing or creative arts (or comparable qualifications by special assessment), documented recognized artistic work/artistic research, and language proficiency in Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish at A2 level (or participation in language training if not documented). The application must be submitted in English or a Scandinavian language, and all documentation must be uploaded digitally as one PDF.

Required attachments include the completed application form, degree documentation, a comprehensive CV, and documentation of up to 10 artistic works/outputs such as videos, photos, programs, publications, awards, or web documentation. The deadline is 1 September 2026.
