The University of Pennsylvania, Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine, is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, Research Track. This full-time, non-tenure track faculty position is anchored in the Center for Clinical Trials Innovation within the Division of Epidemiology, Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics, and involves collaboration with the Palliative and Advanced Illness Research Center. The role is based in Philadelphia, PA.

The position focuses on the statistical design and analysis of randomized clinical trials, with a particular emphasis on Bayesian methods, causal inference, machine learning, pragmatic designs with cluster-randomization, and complex missing data. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Bayesian statistics, causal inference, machine learning, pragmatic cluster randomized designs, and complex missing data methods. Expertise in statistical programming (R, Python, Stan/BUGS), proficiency with trial simulation, and experience supporting large-scale trials and clinical research networks or data and safety monitoring boards are essential. Additional responsibilities include collaboration with clinician-scientists, analysis of patient-reported outcomes, handling of missing data, and familiarity with computing infrastructure, Overleaf/LaTeX, and GitHub. The ability to lead peer-reviewed publications and multi-site research is also required.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree in Statistical Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field, and have at least one year of postdoctoral experience. The ideal candidate is an early-career researcher who can advance innovative trial methodologies and lead research on complex multi-arm, cluster, pragmatic, Bayesian, adaptive, and platform trials.
