Wageningen University & Research is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor in Remote Sensing and Geospatial Artificial Intelligence. The position is based in the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing, a multidisciplinary group specializing in the study of vegetation and land use dynamics from local to global scales. The successful candidate will advance the science and applications of remote sensing, with a strong focus on integrating AI-based and data-driven methods to extract insights from Earth Observation data. The role involves contributing to research, education, and collaboration within a transdisciplinary environment. The candidate will be expected to acquire, lead, and implement innovative research projects, supervise PhD, MSc, and BSc students, and develop and teach courses. Applicants must have a PhD in Remote Sensing, geo-information science, data science, geography, or a related field. A track record of peer-reviewed publications, excellent English communication skills (C1 level), and motivation to develop research leadership and attract external funding are required. The position offers a fixed-term, 18-month contract with the possibility of a permanent contract upon positive evaluation. International staff may be eligible for a tax exemption on part of their salary for the first five years. Wageningen University provides support for visa applications, housing, and integration for international employees.
