Position Qualification

Position Summary
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology ( BMB ) seeks a postdoctoral research associate for the lab of Surinder Batra, PhD and Afshin Salehi, MD, MS, Assistant Professor, Department of Neurosurgery and BMB , University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Salehi’s lab is at the forefront of research in brain cancer therapeutics. Our work focuses on developing and validating preclinical models for the treatment of neuro-oncological diseases. Dr. Salehi has pioneered a laser interstitial thermal therapy mouse model and previously studied blood-brain barrier breakdown in patient-derived xenograft mouse glioma models. His current focus is on engineering nanoparticles for more targeted laser therapeutics and exploring new drug
discovery for pediatric high-grade gliomas using connectivity mapping. Additionally, we are actively involved in developing a new syngeneic mouse model for research. Our lab is dedicated to devising novel treatments for pediatric high-grade gliomas through new drug trials, the study of the tumor immune microenvironment, and laser therapies. The post-doc will be working on these projects, using new technologies
Required Qualifications
PhD in Scientific Field
Supplemental Qualifications
Previous experience with tissue culture, basic molecular and biochemistry assays,
handling mouse lines, histology staining and imaging, and intracranial injections.
Incumbent will apply their technical skills to translational projects that can improve
laser neuro-oncological therapeutics and can be easily applied to clinical setting
leading to clinical trials
