About this position
Doctoral position at ETH Zurich / Paul Scherrer Institute in sparse reconstruction of virtual histology images, with a strong focus on X-ray imaging, machine learning, computer vision, and phase-contrast tomography.

Research tasks include collecting grating interferometry X-ray phase-contrast microCT data of breast tissue biopsies, building data pipelines for synchrotron and laboratory microCT scans, developing algorithms for reconstruction of virtual histopathology images from sparse CT acquisitions, comparing results with standard histology, and presenting/publishing findings.
Eligibility highlights: Master’s degree or equivalent in physics, engineering, or computer science; strong Python skills; experience in computer vision and machine learning; X-ray physics and imaging lab experience are advantageous; excellent English and strong motivation for multidisciplinary research.
