About this position
Karolinska Institutet is offering a doctoral position in translational research on the leukemia niche, based in the Hong Qian group at the Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine (HERM), Department of Medicine Huddinge. The project focuses on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and aims to understand how the leukemic microenvironment contributes to disease progression, drug response, and tissue infiltration. The long-term goal is to identify niche-based therapeutic targets that can improve outcomes for patients with AML.
The doctoral student will work with patient samples and mouse models and gain hands-on experience with multi-color flow cytometry, confocal imaging, lineage tracing, in vitro and in vivo stem cell assays, co-culture and transplantation experiments, RNA sequencing, droplet digital PCR, and CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing. The project will evaluate the functional effects of newly identified niche factors and explore their correlation with AML infiltration outside the bone marrow and responses to therapy.
Supervision will be provided primarily by Dr. Hong Qian, with co-supervision by Dr. Martin Jädersten and Dr. Petter Woll. The position is designed for a motivated doctoral student who wants to develop both theoretical understanding and practical research skills in a highly collaborative translational environment.
