Doctoral Researcher in Hardware-Aware AI for Analog and RF Circuits at Aalto University

Aalto University’s Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering is recruiting a PhD-level Doctoral Researcher to join the Tiny Systems and Circuits (TSirc) group in Espoo, Finland. The project focuses on hardware-aware AI for analog circuits and RF circuits, with the goal of developing energy-efficient AI-driven 6G transmitters.

The successful candidate will build hardware-aware behavioral models in Python, validate them against circuit simulations and measurements, and work on hardware-algorithm co-design. The role also includes publishing at leading international venues, completing a doctoral thesis in the Aalto Doctoral Programme in Electrical Engineering, and contributing to teaching duties.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Microelectronics, Signal Processing, or a closely related field; practical machine learning experience with Python and PyTorch (or similar); strong background in signals and systems and analog circuit theory; good communication skills; and working proficiency in English. Finnish is not required. Experience with laboratory measurements, wireless signal processing, and transistor-level circuit design/simulation is an advantage.

Funding and conditions: the position is fixed-term under Aalto’s 2+2 model, initially for two years with a six-month probationary period and extendable to four years after a successful mid-term review. The starting salary is approximately 3100€/month. The project provides access to GPU computing, circuit simulation tools, and RF measurement infrastructure.

Application deadline: 9 October 2026 at 23:59 EEST. Apply via Aalto’s recruitment site; applications by email are not accepted. Required documents include a CV, a one-page motivation letter, MSc and BSc transcripts, and an optional recent recommendation letter.
