About this position

The Department of Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä is offering a doctoral researcher position within the Planetary Mind research project. The project is a multidisciplinary consortium study that investigates Environmental Agency—the capacity to make sustainable choices in everyday life—and its relationship with mental health across different age groups.

The doctoral researcher will contribute to a project that aims to: examine the significance of environmental agency for mental health; build new understanding of individual and community environmental agency as a psychosocial resource linked to participation and well-being; and develop and evaluate scalable, participatory, digitally supported approaches that strengthen environmental agency and mental health in daily life.

The position sits in a collaborative research environment with national and international engagement. The selected researcher will be part of a multidisciplinary team, conduct doctoral research related to the project’s themes, collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data, publish scientific work, and participate in research collaboration and stakeholder networks. The role also includes a small teaching component.

The project combines psychological research with applied, societally relevant questions about sustainable behaviour, well-being, and mental health promotion. It is based at the University of Jyväskylä, an international and multidisciplinary academic community in central Finland.
