About this position

The Networked Systems Security (NSS) lab at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology invites applications for doctoral student positions in the field of networked systems security. The NSS group, part of EECS/CLS, is renowned for its research agenda covering a wide range of security and privacy challenges, with significant contributions recognized by the research community. The group also leads the development of a new security curriculum at KTH.

As a doctoral student, you will engage in original research activities, aiming for results published in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Research topics span all NSS group areas, including computer security, privacy-preserving technologies, mobile computing, networking, Internet security, wireless communications, distributed algorithms and systems, programming languages, performance analysis, operating systems, simulation techniques and tools, software engineering, system and network programming, applied cryptography, and information theory. Candidates with experimental, systems, or theoretical profiles and interests in any aspect of security and privacy are encouraged to apply. Of particular interest are security and resilience of positioning/localization, including global navigation satellite systems.

Supervision will be provided by Professor Panagiotis Papadimitratos, a leading expert in the field. The NSS lab offers a dynamic and international research environment, with opportunities to contribute to impactful projects and collaborate with a diverse team.

Eligibility requires a second cycle degree (such as a master's) or equivalent, or completion of at least 240 higher education credits (with at least 60 at second-cycle level). English proficiency equivalent to English B/6 is mandatory. Applicants should demonstrate a strong background in relevant technical areas and show motivation for research in secure networked systems. Personal skills such as goal orientation, perseverance, independence, and collaborative ability are highly valued.

Employment is full-time and temporary, with a maximum duration of four years for doctoral education. The position includes a monthly salary according to KTH’s doctoral student salary agreement, employee benefits, and a supportive workplace. Doctoral students may perform limited additional tasks (up to 20%) such as training and administration. Security clearance may be required for certain roles.

To apply, submit your application via KTH's recruitment system, ensuring all required documents are included: diplomas, grades, language certificates, CV, application letter, representative publications or technical reports, and contact information for at least two references. Applications must be received by midnight CET/CEST on the closing date.

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is a leading international technical university, committed to advancing education, research, and innovation for a sustainable society.
