About this position
The Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto is inviting applications for the Dunlap Postdoctoral Fellowships, a research-focused postdoctoral opportunity in astronomy and astrophysics. Fellows are expected to pursue an original research programme, independently or in collaboration with researchers at the University of Toronto, with emphasis on innovative work in instrumentation, software, and/or observations.
The fellowships are embedded in a strong astronomy ecosystem that includes close collaboration with the David A. Dunlap Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics and the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics. Successful fellows join an environment with more than 150 staff and students working across instrumentation, observation, computation, and theory, and they are encouraged to take part in outreach and training activities within the Institute.
Fellows will have access to laboratories, fabrication facilities, and computing clusters, enabling both experimental and computational research directions. The position is designed for candidates whose research profile shows strong potential for innovative contributions and good synergy with existing Dunlap activities. The Institute also supports professional development and mentoring relevant to a scientific career.
The research setting is based at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, within a collaborative institute that supports work spanning astronomical technologies, observational research, and related developments. The advert also notes a related postdoctoral opportunity in data, instrumentation, and astrophysical research connected to the Trottier Institute for Research on Exoplanets and the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic.
