About this position
The Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE) is offering a postdoctoral research opportunity at Brooke Army Medical Center and the Center for the Intrepid in San Antonio, Texas. The project sits within the EACE mission to improve care for Department of War and Department of Veterans Affairs patients with extremity trauma and amputation through scientific research and clinical translation.
As the selected fellow, you will work with the Senior Scientist for the CFI Military Performance Laboratory. The laboratory conducts translational research aimed at enabling readiness and helping Service members return to high function after severe lower-limb and extremity injuries, including amputation, complex limb salvage, and tibia fractures.
The research environment combines military and civilian relevance and spans multiple technology readiness levels. The fellow will gain hands-on experience across activities such as collecting and processing human motion capture data, contributing to projects involving lower-limb amputation, and supporting research and technology development in the care of musculoskeletal trauma patients. The role also offers exposure to grant proposal development and submission within a clinical research setting.
EACE is a DoW organization with researchers embedded at the point of care in military treatment facilities across the nation, focused on mitigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of traumatic extremity injuries and amputations. This fellowship offers an opportunity to build skills in translational rehabilitation research while contributing to efforts that directly inform care for injured Service members and Veterans.
